day 2: owie

Tuesday was very painful. My quads were so tight and sore I could barely walk, sit or stand! It was quite comical trying to sit on the toilet; I pretty much had to grab the sink and wall for support and then fall. This morning I felt a little bit better. I think the long walk, well...more like a hobble, on the beach with snoop last night helped loosen me up. There were a few times when he almost pulled me to the ground. My weak legs could barely keep up with him.

During today's class Alec discussed recovery and all the techniques that would help reduce the pain and soreness...being the smart ass I am I asked...'uh you couldn't of told us all this after the first class'. He explained that he wanted us to experience the difference. "How would you know the recovery techniques worked unless you felt the pain without them?" He is evil I tell you, pure evil!!

After a few minutes on the foam roller and a 200 meter light jog, we started with some 'practice' squats and lifts using PVC pipes. Once Alec was comfortable that we all had the proper technique down, we moved to the 45 pound weight bars. Just when my legs started shaking and I was aching for a little break, he started the timer..

WOD:
21/15/9
thrusters
push ups

Alec yelled and pushed me to finish under 10 minutes - I just barely made it @ 9:57

I am hoping now that I know a few of the recovery techniques I'll be able to complete the WOD's with better time.

After 'Big Brother' is over I'm climbing into the shower to try the hot/cold dip. And later I am going to start scouting the neighborhood for a spa using bing.com's birds eye view map. Someone has to have one around here somewhere!
